§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what machinery Her Majesty's Government are involved in to ensure co-ordination of the standardisation work of the European Economic Community, the European Free Trade Association, the Council of Europe and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
§ Mr. HowardNo formal machinery exists to coordinate the standards work of all these bodies, but along with other Government Departments the Department of Trade and Industry fully supports the efforts of the organisations to reduce technical barriers to trade in Europe, and it co-ordinates the Government input to the work.
