asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list in the Official Report the number of grants given in 1984–85 under the Education Act 1944, section 100(1)(b); to whom these grants were given; and what were the individual sums involved.

Details of grants given by the Department in 1984–85 to bodies (other than local education authorities) for educational services, under section 17 of the Education (Grant) Regulations 1983 are listed in table 23 of the Department's annual report 1984, a copy of which is in the Library. The following grants were also given in 1984–85 under regulations made under the Education Act 1944, section 100(1)(b):
