HC Deb 03 February 1986 vol 91 c71W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Prime Minister if she will raise at the next meeting of the European Council the question of whether the Commission should be empowered to spend the disputed sums in the budget passed by the European Assembly on 18 December, the vires of which were referred to the European Court by the Council meeting of 20 December; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

No. But the United Kingdom will shortly be applying to the European Court of Justice for an interim order suspending implementation of the disputed part of the budget until the court gives a decision on the substantive case.
