HC Deb 03 February 1986 vol 91 cc68-9W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list those organisations which have made representations to him since his last budget calling for a value added tax relief for charities; what his response has been; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

The list is as follows:

  • Band Aid Appeal Fund
  • Bradford Fire Disaster Fund
  • Charities' VAT Reform Group
  • Methodist Homes for the Aged
  • Royal British Legion
  • Action Aid
  • Home Farm Trust
  • Help the Aged
  • Abbeyfield Society
  • PDSA
  • National Children's Home
  • Council for Christian Care
  • Licensed Victuallers National Homes
  • John Groom's Association for the Disabled
  • British Heart Foundation
  • English National Folk Dance Society
  • Village Halls Forum
  • Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission
  • National Trust

The representations of these charities about VAT are being carefully considered, but I cannot anticipate my right hon. Friend's Budget statement.
