HC Deb 03 February 1986 vol 91 c87W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, pursuant to the answer of 9 December, Official Report, column 490, he will list those health authorities which had in full operation a computerised call and recall scheme for cervical cancer screening at the latest date for which such information is available.

Mr. Hayhoe

At June 1985 the following 13 health authorities were operating computerised call and recall systems for cervical cancer screening:

  • Barnsley
  • Bristol and Western
  • Chichester
  • Exeter
  • Isle of Wight
  • North Bedfordshire
  • North Devon
  • Rochdale
  • Rotherham
  • Salford
  • South Bedfordshire
  • Stockport
  • Torbay

A further 24 health authorities had as at June 1985 firm plans to implement computerised call and recall systems by the end of 1985.

In my reply to the hon. Member on 19 December 1985 at columns 324–25, I listed the health authorities in both the above categories. Health authorities will next be asked to report progress towards implementing such systems in June 1986, as part of the normal planning and accountability process.
