§ Mr. Bidwellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the average time a person seeking to appeal against a refusal to issue a visa for a visit to the United Kingdom from the Indian sub-continent has to wait before the case is dealt with by an adjudicator; what proposals are being considered to speed up this process; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaddingtonNo appeals against refusal in the Indian sub-continent of a visa to visit the United Kingdom have yet been received by the appellate authorities and it is understood that very few have so far been lodged. Consequently it is too soon to provide the information required. The situation is being closely monitored in consultation with the appellate authorities.
