HC Deb 19 December 1986 vol 107 cc829-30W
Dr. Cunningham

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if, further to his reply of 5 December, Official Report, column 848, to the hon. Member for Carmarthen (Dr. Thomas) about radioactivity in sheep, he will state the precise location of the readings of readioactive caesium listed in Cumbria.

Mr. Donald Thompson

[pursuant to his reply, 18 December 1986, c. 626]: Details of the 15 readings above 3,000 bq/kg (which represent less than 0.05 per cent. of measurements taken) have been given to the farmers whose sheep were tested but it is not our policy to disclose this information to others. The sheep came from upland areas of extensive grazing and their exact location would in any case be difficult to pinpoint accurately.
