Mr. Jackson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his policy on the addition of new categories of drugs to the selected list.

Mr. Newton

The Government's policy remans unchanged. We have no present plans to extend the selected list scheme into other categories of drugs.

Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the annual saving from the introduction of a limited list of certain ranges of drugs; and how this saving is broken down by therapeutic component.

I refer the hon. Member to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Solihull (Mr. Taylor) on 18 December. Full year data are not yet availale on which to calculate a breakdown of savings by therapeutic category.
