HC Deb 19 December 1986 vol 107 c720W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what information his Department holds on (i) the proportion of all homes in Wales which have central heating and (ii) the proportion of homes in Wales which have central heating where all the occupants are over 65 years of age.

Mr. Mark Robinson

It is estimated from the Welsh house condition survey that, in 1981, 55.1 per cent. of all dwellings in Wales, and 42.2 per cent. of those dwellings in which the head of household was over 65, had central heating. Figures cannot be reliably estimated for pensioner households for later years; but the family expenditure survey suggests that in 1982–83, 59.1 per cent. of households in Wales had full or partial central heating.
