asked the Attorney-General how many county courts judges out of the total number available have sat in the Diplock courts in Northern Ireland over the last two years.

In 1984 all 11 available county court judges sat in the Diplock courts. In 1985 12 judges were available and 11 heard Diplock cases during the year.

Ms. Clare Short

asked the Attorney-General what proportion of their total sitting days county court judges have sat in the Diplock courts in Northern Ireland in each of the last two years.

The Attorney-General

In 1984 7.4 per cent. of the total sitting days of county court judges was spent in trying scheduled offences. The corresponding proportion for 1985 was 8.3 per cent.
