Mr. George Gardiner

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the amount available for capital expenditure on schools in 1987–88 including the voluntary aided sector.

Local education authorities have today been informed of their allocations of presecribed capital expenditure for 1987–88, and of the allocations for capital spending by the governors of voluntary aided and special agreement schools in their area. These are as follows:
