§ Mr. NewtonThe latest data available to the Department indicate that the savings have been in line with the original estimate of £75 million in a full year. These savings were taken into account when planning the NHS expenditure for 1985–86. The savings were not allotted to any specific purpose but form part of the general increase in resources made available to the NHS.
