§ 72. Mr. Dobsonasked the Paymaster General how many people have up to now passed through job clubs; what is the average length of stay; and how many have got permanent jobs as a result.
§ Mr. LeeSince job clubs began in 1984 11,347 people have passed through them to 7 November 1986. The latest date for which statistics are available. Of these, 6,977 (61 per cent,) found jobs. An evaluation was carried out in early 1986 into the performance of the 29 job clubs then open. That showed that average length of stay was 4.8 weeks.
