HC Deb 16 December 1986 vol 107 c505W
Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish the numbers and amounts of grants given to private afforestation companies in each year since 1975.

Mr. John MacKay

This information is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why the levels of forestry planting grants pay no regard to the number of acres being planted.

Mr. John MacKay

The levels of grants under the Forestry Commission's grant schemes do, in fact, vary according to the area of the planting or of the woodland, with higher grants being given for smaller areas.
