§ Mr. Stanley[pursuant to his reply, 12 December 1986, c. 310]: The satisfactory working of the D-notice system, which is voluntary, is dependent on authors and publishers knowing that their discussions with the Defence, Press and Broadcasting Committee are regarded by the Committee 374W as taking place in confidence. For this reason, it is not our practice to state which books have or have not been brought to the notice of the Committee.
