HC Deb 12 December 1986 vol 107 c304W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if the final report of the working party on the proposed merger of the Scottish school of physical education of Jordanhill college with Dunfermline college, Cramord, under Moray house college will include in its findings and recommendations detailed costs relating to its proposals including savings to public expenditure which will arise from the arrangement.

Mr. John MacKay

Following my right hon. and learned Friend's statement on 17 July 1986, at column 1187 a working party was established to report to him and the governing bodies concerned on how best to implement his decisions that the training of physical education teachers (both men and women) will be centralised on the site of the present Dunfermline college of physical education, bringing to an end the training of men PE teachers at Jordanhill college of education, and that Dunfermline college will itself be merged with Moray house college of education under a single governing body. It is for the working party to determine the precise content of its final report, but in reaching his decisions my right hon. and learned Friend did of course take account of relevant financial as well as educational considerations.
