HC Deb 12 December 1986 vol 107 c257W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Paymaster General from what parts of the Department of Employment's and the Manpower Services Commission's budgets funding for the job training scheme will come.

Mr. Trippier

The current job training programme is funded from the Manpower Services Commission's grant-in-aid for adult and occupational training. The new job training scheme, which is currently being piloted in nine areas, is being funded from within that grant-in-aid.

Mr. Wainwright

asked the Paymaster General what are the implications of the job training scheme for the future of skillcentres.

Mr. Trippier

My right hon. and noble Friend announced plans for the new job training scheme pilots on 9 October. We review frequently current provision for vocational education and training to ensure that it both meets the needs of the labour market and represents good value for money. I have no plans to announce changes to the MSC's skills training agency.
