Member for Great Grimsby on 3 December, Official Report, c. 675, (1) what importance alternative siting costs have in considering investment approval for Heysham II nuclear power station; what were the major factors in giving that investment approval; and if he will make a statement;
(2) whether information submitted to his Department by the Central Electricity Generating Board in seeking investment approval for Heysham II nuclear power station included (a) financial information on alternative siting options for the same design of power station, (b) information of any possible alternative plans for a coal-fired power station and (c) information of the geographical pattern of other prospective power station developments in medium term; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GoodladConsent under section 2 of the Electric Lighting Act 1909, as subsequently amended, already 245W existed for a second nuclear station at the Heysham site. Choices had thus already been made at the time of investment approval for Heysham II.
