HL Deb 11 December 1986 vol 482 c1339WA
Lord Napier and Ettrick

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Jaguar aircraft of the Royal Air Force which crashed near Craikhope in the Scottish Borders on 28th November was on a low flying training mission at the time, and whether the cause of the crash was due to a malfunction of that aircraft or to pilot error.

Lord Trefgarne

The RAF Jaguar aircraft which crashed on 27th November was on a training flight for which flying at low level had been authorised. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and it would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this stage.
