HC Deb 04 December 1986 vol 106 c750W
Mr. Roger King

asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will make a statement on the arrangements for hon. Members to make international telephone calls from the Palace of Westminster: what record is kept of the number, length and destination of such calls; and what are the provisions for charging hon. Members for such calls made by themselves or their staff.

Mr. Biffen

Under arrangements approved by the Services Committee, hon. Members may make international calls from extensions on the Palace of Westminster exchange which must be booked through the House of Commons telephone operators. Records of international telephone calls are maintained for accounting purposes and hon. Members are billed by the Fees Office.
