Mr. Gareth Wardell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number of Her Majesty's inspectors of schools currently employed in Wales who have had no experience of teaching in primary schools; and how this figure compares with that on 18 March.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Fifty; this is an increase of three since 18 March 1986. I also refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply given to him on 24 March 1986 at columns347–48.

Mr. Gareth Wardell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will arrange for the forward programme of Her Majesty's inspectors of schools in Wales to be published; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

No. A particular value of reports by Her Majesty's inspectors is that they reflect the realities of educational practice, and this value would be reduced if programmes were published in advance.

Mr. Gareth Wardell

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Five; there has been no change since 24 March 1986.
