HC Deb 04 December 1986 vol 106 c707W
Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he has any proposals for reform of the Government's regional development policy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Giles Shaw

My Department is carrying out a review of certain administrative aspects of our regional industrial policy in order to ensure that the schemes operate with the maximum effect and economy. Given the long time-span of private sector investment decision, it would be premature to launch into a fundamental review of the policy so soon after the last review was implemented.
