Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what was the number of arrests arising from reported incidents of racial harassment in the Metropolitan police authority area, by borough, for each year since 1983, including the part year figures for 1986;

(2) what was the number of reported racial incidents in the Metropolitan police area by year since 1983, including the past year figures for 1986, by borough and by type of offence.

I am informed by the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the available information is as set out in the tables. Detailed breakdowns by borough for the years 1983 to 1985 could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
