asked the Paymaster General (1) how many claims for unemployment benefit were held at the adjudication office in Birmingham on 31 October 1985;

(2) how many claims under consideration at the adjudication office in Birmingham on 31 October had been held there for more than three months.

Mr. Lee

The number of claims under consideration was 5,482. Information is not readily available about the number outstanding for more than three months, and this could be obtained only at disproportionate expense.
