HC Deb 04 December 1986 vol 106 c792W
Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the potential for forestry in lowland farming areas.

Mr. John MacKay

The Government recognise the considerable potential for forestry in lowland farming areas. This is already encouraged through the Forestry Commission's forestry grant scheme and broadleaved woodland grant scheme, and we are considering ways in which it might be further promoted.
