Friend's assumption of responsibility for Blackwall tunnel last April, he appointed consultants to advise him and his agents, the London borough of Greenwich, on its condition, maintenance and operation. Some changes to the lighting, ventilation and operating procedures have already been put in hand. We aim to make further improvements over the next few years.
