asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the effectiveness of immigration controls overseas.

The exercise of United Kingdom immigration controls at our posts overseas is performed firmly and fairly in accordance with the immigration rules.

89. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many new entry clearance officers have been allocated to take up posts in Bombay; if they are already working; and if he will make a statement.

Seven additional entry clearance officers have been allocated, of whom six are already in post.
