HC Deb 03 December 1986 vol 106 c654W
60. Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with the Government of Pakistan about the Afghan refugee problem; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

During his visit to Pakistan in April my right hon. and learned Friend listened to representations from Afghan refugees and discussed the matter with the Pakistan Government. We remain in contact.

The continuing flow of refugees into Pakistan poses real problems and my hon. Friend the Minister for overseas Development announced in Pakistan last week a further grant of £3.5 million to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees for refugee programmes in Pakistan.
