§ Mr. MellorHome Office guidance on the design of new magistrates' courts includes advice on access for disabled people. Local authorities, which in consultation with magistrates' courts committees are responsible for magistrates' courts accommodation, also have to comply with the appropriate building regulations; and it is a matter for them to decide to what extent they are able to make modifications to existing courthouses.
