HC Deb 01 December 1986 vol 106 c501W
13. Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the opportunities for speed-reducing measures in the revised road hump regulations.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Road humps are one of a number of measures which can reduce road casualties in built-up areas. The new regulations—which come into force today—will make it significantly easier for local authorities to install humps. Humps, and particularly humps on zebra crossings, offer special benefits to pedestrians.
