Mr. Douglas Hogg

I understand from the chief constable of Avon and Somerset Police that a total of 109 persons were arrested as a result of the operation referred to. Fifty-eight persons were arrested for alleged drugs offences only. The remaining 51 persons were arrested for alleged offences not connected with the purpose of the operation. Details of the latter cases, including offences charged and the outcome of court proceedings, are being collected centrally and will be published in due course. However, information is not being collected centrally on whether those charged were remanded, and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
