HC Deb 01 December 1986 vol 106 cc452-3W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will state how many applications were made, through the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association Ltd. for authority to hold motor rallies in each county of Wales during 1985; how many of these applications were granted and refused in the case of each county; whether any complaints were received subsequent to any of these rallies; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

During 1985 the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sport Association dealt with 132 applications to hold motor sport rallies in Wales. The applications were recorded on the basis of police force areas and are given in the following table:

I understand that complaints were received after one of the rallies. I believe that each complaint was carefully investigated by the RAC with the aim of attempting to avoid in future the problem which gave rise to the complaint.
