asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) how many money lending licence applications have been received and how many licences issued over the current year, under the Consumer Credit Act 1974;

(2) how many money lending licence applications have been received and how many licences issued over the current year under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and in the Bristol district council area;

(3) how many money lenders licences the Director General of Fair Trading has suspended during the current year; and for what reason;

(4) how many money lenders licences the Director General of Fair Trading has suspended during the current year in the Bristol district council area; and for what reasons;

(5) how many current money lending licences have been issued under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

The licensing of moneylenders under the Consumer Credit Act is the direct responsibility of the Director General of Fair Trading and I will ask him to write to the right hon. Member.
