HC Deb 01 December 1986 vol 106 c443W
Mr. McKelvey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the amount of money paid to companies under the Industry Acts in Kilmarnock and Loudoun since 1983; and how many jobs were either created or protected as a result.

Mr. Lang

In the period between the start of 1983 and 31 October 1986, total payments of regional selective assistance (RSA) to companies in the Kilmarnock and Loudoun parliamentary constituency amounted to £951,000. Comprehensive information on payments of regional development grant (RDG) on a constituency basis is not available. However, since 1983, payments of RDG exceeding £25,000 to firms in the Kilmarnock employment local office area amounted to over £2.3 million. Information on jobs created or safeguarded in the period since 1983 as a result of awards of RDG and RSA and on payments for other forms of assistance under the Industry Acts is not readily available.
