§ Mrs. CurrieDuring the period from 1978 to 1985 when central funding was provided, 64 students completed the course at the City Literary Institute. The cost of training in 1984–85 was around £5,000 for each student hearing therapist. There are 12 students, sponsored by their district health authorities, on the current course.
§ Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what financial support he proposes to give to the British Society of Hearing Therapists for the year 1987–88.
§ Mrs. CurrieThe Department keeps in touch with the society in regard to the development of this new profession, but it is not our practice to grant aid to professional bodies.
