HC Deb 01 December 1986 vol 106 cc482-3W
Mr. John David Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable of Wiltshire as to how many police officers were on duty in Ford village, Wiltshire on 14 and 15 November; why the police dispersed people standing outside the home of the right hon. Member for Bridgwater; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

I understand from the chief constable that 16 officers were available for duty but not all were deployed. The police asked people standing outside the home of my right hon. Friend the Member for Bridgwater (Mr. King) to disperse in order to avoid possible obstructions to the highway and breaches of the peace.
