HL Deb 30 April 1986 vol 474 c382WA
Lord Hayter

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will advise the chairman of the Manpower Services Commission when he reconstitutes the Youth Training Board that the board should include a member with particular concern for young people with disability or learning difficulties.

The Secretary of State for Employment (Lord Young of Graffham)

The Youth Training Board's terms of reference cover the interests of young disabled people and those with special needs. Both the Government and the Commission are satisfied that the board takes full account of the training needs of young people with disability or learning difficulties.

The Manpower Services Commission agreed, at its meeting on 24th April, that the board should be reconstituted, in its present form, with the addition of one member representing YTS approved training organisations for a period of three years from July 1986.
