What are the relative costs to public funds of drugs dispensed by hospital pharmacies and by pharmacists under Family Practitioner Committee arrangements.

The cost of drugs dispensed in the hospital and community health services in England in 1984–85 was £279 million; information on the cost of dispensing these drugs is not centrally available. The cost of drugs dispensed in the family practitioner services in England in 1984–85 was £1,194 million excluding pharmacists' remuneration for dispensing, and £1,553 million including pharmacists' remuneration for dispensing.
