§ Mr. Wareingasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on Government policy on invalidity care allowance following the opinion of the Advocate-General of the European Court that married women should be eligible to receive invalid care allowance.
§ Mr. NewtonThe judgment of the European Court on the application of the EC Equal Treatment Directive to invalid care allowance is not expected until June. The Advocate-General gave his opinion to the court on 22 April. This opinion is not binding, but we are of course considering the position carefully in the light of it.
