§ Mr. Ashdownasked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply of 27 March, Official Report, columns 619–20, what relative priority he attaches to financial considerations, on the one hand, and to the implications of extraterritorial controls on computers tendered for purchase to Government Departments by American computer subsidiaries, on the other hand, when he decides which computers should be purchased by his Department.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe Government's policy is not to accept attempts to impose such controls, as stated by my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Treasury on April 9 1986 at col.95, and therefore I have nothing to add to my reply of 27 March.
