Mr. Chris Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Islington, South and Finsbury on 17 April, what are his reasons for not placing in the Library copies of correspondence between his Department's Urban Housing Renewal Unit and Tower Hamlets borough council.

It is not normal practice to publish correspondence between the Department and other people and I see no reason to depart from convention in this instance.
