Mr. Rowe

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much money was paid by his Department to support (a) the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work, (b) the General Medical Council and (c) the United Kingdom Nursing Board in each of the latest three years for which figures are available; and what proportion of the total costs of these bodies each of those contributions represented.

The information requested in respect of the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work, the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting and the English National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting is set out in the table. The Department does not pay a grant to the General Medical Council which is a self-financing independent statutory body.
