HC Deb 21 April 1986 vol 96 c12W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how much has been paid in regional selective assistance to private hospital or private nursing home developments in each year since eligibility was introduced.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The information requested is as follows:

£
1982 15,000
1983 15,000
1984 5,000
1985 5,000
1986 20,000

Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he has any plans to extend eligibility for regional development grants to the private health care and insurance industries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Morrison

I will be reviewing those activities which currently qualify for regional development grant during the current review of the assistance schemes. No decision has yet been made to extend eligibility for regional development grant to include private health care and insurance industries, although both activities will be considered, with others, as part of the review.
