HC Deb 21 April 1986 vol 96 c49W
35. Mr. Patrick Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on progress towards liberalisation of European air fares.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Government have now secured liberal air service arrangements with the Netherlands, Luxembourg, West Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. These are proving beneficial to travellers in terms of the choice of fares available, and helpful to airlines, and we are therefore continuing bilateral negotiations with other governments. We are also continuing to press hard for early agreement on a liberal air services regime applicable to the European Community as a whole.
