asked the Attorney-General on what dates his office received the first and subsequent reports from the Director of Public Prosecution's office following the visit of officials to Cyprus in connection with inquiries into possible breaches of security at United Kingdom bases in Cyprus involving 9 Signals Regiment.

§ The Attorney-General
Following the return from Cyprus of an official of the Director of Public Prosecutions' office on 28 March 1984, the Director of Public Prosecutions and he reported to me the next clay. Subsequently a series of reports were made to me.

asked the Attorney-General on what date the decision was taken to send an official from the Director of Public Prosecutions' office to Cyprus in connection with inquiries into possible breaches of security at United Kingdom bases in Cyprus involving 9 Signals Regiment; who was that official; and on what date he or she arrived in Cyprus.

§ The Attorney-General
On 19 March 1984 it was decided to send an official from the Director of Public Prosecutions' office to Cyprus. He arrived the next day. On 22 March 1984 it was decided to send a second official. He arrived on 25 March 1984. It is not the practice to name civil servants involved in individual cases.

§ Mr. Dalyell
asked the Attorney-General on what date the decision was taken, and by whom, to send a Special Branch team to Cyprus in connection with enquiries into possible breaches of security at United Kingdom bases in Cyprus involving 9 Signals Regiment; what was the composition of that team; and on what date the composition was decided.

On 15 March 1984 the Director of Public Prosecutions decided to ask the Metropolitan police to send Special Branch officers to Cyprus. The director had already been informed on 13 March 1984 by the Metropolitan police that three officers had been allocated to the case.
