§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Prime Minister when Her Majesty's Government intend to resume negotiations on nuclear disarmament as specified in article VI of the nonproliferation treaty.
§ The Prime MinisterThe United Kingdom remains ready to play its full part in the arms control and disarmament process. As for nuclear disarmament, the immediate priority is for the United States and Soviet Union to agree substantial reductions in their nuclear arsenals. We accordingly support the objectives of the nuclear and space talks at Geneva. The United States proposals of November last year and February this year have our full support.
