HC Deb 18 April 1986 vol 95 c532W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much money has been paid from public funds to Alcohol Concern each year since 1983; and for what purpose.

Mr. Whitney

Central funds have been granted to Alcohol Concern as follows:

£
1983–84 69,000
1984–85 310,789
1985–86 486,300

These sums have been awarded to enable the organisation to encourage and facilitate extensions of local services, especially local voluntary councils on alcohol, to assemble and provide information on alcohol misuse for public debate and for use by local voluntary agencies and to co-operate with the Health Education Council and other agencies concerned with the health education and training. The figure for 1985–86 includes £35,000 removal expenses grant.
