Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) how many pupils there have been in primary schools in England and Wales each year since 1975; and how many are anticipated each year until 1990, expressed also as an annual percentage change;

(2) how many pupils there have been in secondary schools in England and Wales each year since 1975; and how many are anticipated each year until 1990, expressed also as an annual percentage change;

(3) how many pupils there have been in primary schools in Hampshire each year since 1975; and how many are anticipated each year until 1990, expressed also as a percentage annual change;

(4) how many pupils there have been in secondary schools in Hampshire each year since 1975; and how many are anticipated each year until 1990; expressed also as a percentage annual change.

The full-time equivalent numbers of pupils in maintained primary and secondary schools in Hampshire and in England for each year from 1975 to 1985, and the projected number of these pupils in England from 1986 until 1990 are as follows. Projections for individual local education authorities are not available centrally.
