§ Mr. Boyesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has as to the number of occasions on which sewage plants failed to achieve their set standards in 1984–85 and as to which plants were involved.
§ Mr. John Patten[pursuant to his reply, 10 April 1986]: Part II of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 was implemented last year. Before then, routine information about the performance of sewage plants was not held by my Department. Water authorities are now required to report annually on works which fail to meet the terms of their consents. The first reports, for the year ended 31 December 1986, are due to be submitted early in 1987.
