asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, pursuant to his answer of 10 March, Official Report, column 361, he will make a statement on the concrete outcome of the discussions he held with the Zimbabwean Foreign Minister on the release of funds of former Zimbabwe residents.

When my right hon. and learned Friend discussed the problem of the blocked funds of former Zimbabwe residents with the Zimbabwean Foreign Minister in February he asked for cases involving blocked remittances to be handled sympathetically, especially when hardship had occurred. The Minister expressed the hope that favourable developments in Zimbabwe's balance of payments could lead to some improvement in the situation.
